Please join us for the final installment of our Peace Corps 50th Anniversary Film Series, hosted by our partner, The Denver Film Society!

We end our series with a documentary on the life of Sargent Shriver, who sadly passed away on January 18, 2011 at the age of 95.
Film Summary:
Peace Corps, VISTA, Community Action, Head Start,
Legal Services for the Poor, Youth Corps, Job Corps, and more. Sargent Shriver
invented a string of social initiatives that shaped an era and dared millions
of young Americans to live out their ideals. American Idealist brings Shriver's
story to life in this documentary which aired nationally on PBS on January 21,
2008. A powerful 90-minute depiction of practical activism, it offers a hopeful
vision of what this nation could be and could do, based on the experience of
what it once did when pushed by the civil rights movement and guided by the War
on Poverty.
The film will be introduced by RPCV Pat Waak, who was a personal friend of Sarge's and worked on the 1972 Vice-Presidential campaign and served as the Deputy
Campaign Manager of the 1976 Shriver for President Campaign.
We have purchased 50 discounted tickets at $10 each for our group. If you choose to pay at the door, please note that money will be collected whether or not you attend the night of March 4. Once our tickets sell out, you may still purchase them for the regular $12 price via the Denver Film Society's website.
